From the early beginnings in 2008, when the first horses arrived at our original site in Vorselaar, to our facilities in Westerlo today, August Van Sprengel Breeding Farms has grown around one constant passion: selecting, breeding, and developing horses who are exceptional in many ways.
Over the years, the program has evolved alongside the farm itself. Carefully selected bloodlines, experience built over generations of horses, and a long-term approach to breeding and training have contributed to horses finding their way into sport and achieving results at international level.
Today, our facilities in Westerlo, comprising extensive pastureland and facilities, bring together breeding, raising, and developing horses in an environment built around their wellbeing and potential.
What started with those first mares in Vorselaar in 2008 has become a story spanning almost two decades — from carefully considered breeding choices at home to achievements on the international stage.
And now, almost twenty years after those very first beginnings, we are starting to harvest the remarkable fruits of what was once little more than a diamond-in-the-rough idea.
Looking back, we have to admit that there is no great secret to it. It is a question of having a dedicated plan, making the right choices and then giving those choices the time they need to prove themselves.
Because in breeding, selecting and training, there is one golden ingredient you simply cannot replace: patience.
